Elevated Plus Maze for Mice and Rats

The elevated plus maze is widely used in anxiety and depression research, investigating the anxiety state of animals by using the contradictory behavior of exploring the new environment and the fear of hanging opening arms. The elevated plus maze contains a pair of open arms and a pair of closed arms.Rodents (such as rats and mice) have exploratory behavior, and will actively explore the open arm after putting it into the plus maze, but they are afraid of the open environment hanging high in the open arm. Anti-anxiety drugs can increase open-arm inquiry activity, whereas anxiety-inducing drugs do the opposite.Combine with the video tracking technology to complete the automation and quantification of the elevated plus maze experiment, the results are more real and credible.
