Orofacial Pain Assessment Device (OPAD)

The Orofacial Pain Assessment Device (OPAD) is used to automatically measure and evaluate temperature (hot or cold) or mechanical orofacial pain assessment in the trigeminal nerve of rats and mice. The rodent is placed inthe operant chamber and can only obtain liquid reward when it contacts the thermal and mechanical stimuli. The animal withdraws the liquid as the temperature (hot or cold) becomes aversive. Our OPAD software will automatically track the number of licks, duration of each lick, latency to the first lick, longest and shortest lick etc.
